Yuma, Ariz. - U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Yuma Sector recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested a man after receiving information from the Yuma Police Department on Tuesday.
Early Tuesday morning the Yuma Police Department (YPD) notified the Border Patrol that a 1994 Honda Civic was stolen out of Yuma. About an hour later, Border Patrol agents from the Yuma Station located the vehicle near the Colorado River driving at a high rate of speed.
When the driver noticed that Border Patrol agents were following him, he stopped the vehicle, jumped out and attempted to run into Mexico. Agents secured the vehicle, which was the vehicle reported stolen by YPD, and apprehended him a few hundred yards from the vehicle near the West Main Canal.
Border Patrol agents turned the vehicle and driver over to the Yuma Police Department. According to YPD, the 25 year-old driver will be charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and driving with a suspended license.
