Agents seize drugs, stolen vehicle and guns at immigration checkpoint

YUMA, Ariz. – Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents from the Wellton Station arrested two U.S. citizens who were driving a stolen vehicle and found to be in possession of a stolen firearm, drugs and bulk cash on Saturday at the immigration checkpoint on Interstate 8.

At approximately 6:45 a.m., agents referred a silver BMW rental car to the secondary inspection area for further investigation. Agents confirmed the vehicle was stolen and a canine alerted to the vehicle while in secondary. A search of the vehicle revealed two handguns, one of which was stolen; three oxycodone pills; 31 grams of heroin; 11 grams of cocaine; two grams of crack cocaine; one gram of methamphetamine; and over $8,600 in cash.

Arizona Department of Public Safety state troopers took custody of the two male vehicle occupants, guns, drugs and money. The BMW was returned to the rental company.
