MISSION, Texas – Arrest of a Mexican national in Mission, Texas, leads to the identification of a sexual predator.

Yesterday morning, McAllen agents working in Mission, Texas, witnessed several suspected illegal aliens approaching the nearby river levee. As the agents attempted to arrest them, the subjects absconded into the brush. A search of the area led to the arrest of seven illegal aliens. During processing, one of the subjects was later identified as Juan MALDONADO-Mendoza, a Mexican national. Record checks revealed a previous arrest by the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) in Illinois. DCSO charged him with Sexual exploitation of a child. A judge subsequently convicted MALDONADO-Mendoza and sentenced him to four years incarceration.

Border Patrol processed the subject accordingly.

The public is encouraged to take a stand against crime in their communities and report suspicious activity at 800-863-9382.

Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation.  The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
