LAREDO, Texas – Border Patrol agents assigned to the Border Patrol Checkpoint on U.S. Highway 59 seized over 25 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated value of more than $973,940.

The case evolved on October 18 after Border Patrol agents assigned to the checkpoint near Freer, Texas encountered a white Chevrolet Aveo sedan at the primary inspection lane.  As the driver was being questioned of their immigration status, a service canine alerted to the odor of narcotics and/or concealed humans.  The vehicle was subsequently referred to the secondary inspection area for further examination.
