Border Patrol Agents Perform Back To Back Rescues

OCOTILLO, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents from the El Centro Sector successfully rescued two men in separate events Sunday morning.

The first rescue occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m., when El Centro Sector Radio Communications Dispatch received a call from California Highway Patrol communications of a distress call from an illegal alien who had made an illegal entry into the United States, stating he was lost and did not have any water. Border Patrol agents began a rescue operation provided only with GPS coordinates from the phone call.

Agents encountered an individual near Ocotillo and provided him with water. The agents determined that the man, a 35-year-old illegal alien from Mexico had placed the distress call.  The individual stated he required no medical attention and was then transported to the El Centro Station immigration rally point where he was expelled back to Mexico.

The second rescue occurred at approximately 11:56 a.m. El Centro Sector Radio Communications Dispatch received a call from California Highway Patrol communications in regards to a distress call of a subject who was hiking stating he was lost and in need of assistance. Border Patrol agents began a rescue operation provided only with GPS coordinates from the phone call.

Border Patrol agents were able to find the hiker near the coordinates provided. The individual stated he did not need any medical attention.

The hiker, a United States citizen, was provided with water and escorted to safety.
