EDINBURG, Texas – Vehicle stops by Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers and La Joya Police Department officers led to the disruption of two human smuggling attempts in the Rio Grande Valley.

Yesterday evening, DPS troopers requested assistance from the Falfurrias Border Patrol Station with a vehicle pursuit of a Ford F-150 near Premont, Texas. The pursuit came to an end when the driver ultimately veered off the road and crashed into a ranch fence. Several subjects were observed absconding into the nearby brush. As troopers and agents searched the area, the F-150 caught fire. The local fire department was requested and responded to extinguish the fire. A total of three migrants were apprehended in the area, but the driver was not located.

Agents took custody of the four migrants.

All subjects are being processed accordingly.
