Border Patrol Arrests Two Gang Members

CALEXICO, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested two illegal aliens who are documented gang members on Monday evening.   

The first incident occurred at around 6:40 p.m., when agents assigned to the Calexico Border Patrol Station observed a man illegally enter the United States. Agents apprehended the man approximately 12 miles east of the Calexico Downton Port of Entry and transported him to the El Centro Sector Rally Point for immigration and criminal history screening.

Agents conducted records checks, which revealed that the man, a 36-year-old illegal alien from Mexico, is a documented Sureño gang member who was formally removed from the United States to Mexico by an immigration judge on August 19, 2003.  

The gang member is being held in federal custody pending removal back to Mexico.

The second incident occurred at around 7 p.m., when agents assigned to the Calexico Station observed a man illegally enter the United States. Agents apprehended the man approximately 16 miles east of the Calexico Downtown Port of Entry and transported him to the El Centro Sector Rally Point for immigration and criminal history screening.

Agents conducted records checks, which revealed that the man, a 42-year-old illegal alien from Mexico, is a documented Sureño gang member with multiple removals out of the United States.  Additional record checks also revealed that the man has a felony conviction for “Force Assault with Deadly Weapon not a Firearm” in 1998 out of Stockton, California. The man was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment. In 2003, the man was convicted of “Robbery: Second Degree, Great Bodily Injury Using a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon with Previous Felony Conviction”.  The man was sentenced to 15 more years in prison for his conviction and was subsequently removed from the United States back to Mexico on August 14, 2017.

The gang member is being held in federal custody pending criminal prosecution.
