Brownsville, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Brownsville port of entry intercepted a man who allegedly attempted to illegally enter the country by hiding within the trunk area of a vehicle driven by his girlfriend.
On Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Los Indios International Bridge a 26-year-old female U.S citizen who resides in San Benito, Texas applied for admission to enter the United States as the driver of a black 2001 Chevrolet Malibu. A primary CBP officer's inspection of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a second person hiding within the cargo area of the Malibu. CBP officers removed the man, identified as a 26-year-old citizen of Mexico, and escorted both the driver and her passenger to secondary for further identification and examination. In secondary, CBP officers used a CBP database to determine the identity of the male. The man is allegedly a Mexican citizen with no legal immigration documents to enter or reside in the United States.
CBP officers took the women and her passenger into custody and processed them for alleged violations of immigration law.
"A CBP officer's primary inspections resulted in the interception of the alleged would-be immigrant and stopped him from entering the country without legal immigration documents. I applaud our officers for their unrelenting vigilance and service to our country," said Michael Freeman, CBP port director, Brownsville.
