INTERNATIONAL FALLS, Minn. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) wishes to inform the public that the Inspection Station at Ely, Minnesota, will open for the summer tourist season on May 24.
Effective May 24, 2014, the hours of operation for the Inspection Stations at Ely, Minnesota, will be as follows:

The Ely border station is located in the National Forest Service Complex in Ely, Minnesota. This border station serves individuals arriving from Canada via the Boundary Water Canoe Area. There are no roads into or out of Canada in this remote wilderness area. All travel into and from Canada is by non-motorized small boat, canoe, kayak, and aircraft. Applications for the I-68 permit can be made in person at the Ely border station during normal business hours or the Grand Portage Port of Entry. The I-68 permit allows boaters to enter the United States from Canada for recreational purposes and report their arrival to CBP from a telephone at the earliest opportunity.
The Ely, Minnesota, inspection station is a seasonal facility; open during the summer tourist season, May 24 to September 6.
