NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Port of Buffalo arrested an individual wanted out of the state of Georgia for homicide.
Yesterday, CBP officers at the Rainbow Bridge border crossing encountered Dontavia Timmons, a 36-year-old United States citizen from Atlanta, Georgia. During the examination process, CBP officers discovered that Timmons had an active National Crime Information Center warrant for homicide, from Fulton County, Georgia. Further investigation confirmed the warrant that also included additional felony charges for two counts of murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.
“This arrest is a prime example of the dangerous individuals our CBP officers encounter at our ports of entry,” said Area Port Director Gaetano Cordone. “The arrest of this individual will hopefully bring some solace to the victim’s family. We thank our law enforcement partners for working alongside us ensuring that this fugitive is brought to justice.”
After confirmation of the warrant with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, the subject was turned over to New York State Police and is currently in the custody of the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, awaiting extradition to Georgia.
