INDIANAPOLIS— U.S Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in Indianapolis played an integral role in a series of arrests in the Indianapolis area. A federal and local Task Force have arrested eight offenders and seized more than a 100 pounds of methamphetamine this week.
The Indianapolis Task Force is mutually beneficial for all agencies. CBP, along with Homeland Security Investigation (HSI), State Police, IMPD, and other Federal agencies work together to target criminal organizations exploiting our Midwestern communities.
“There is no daylight between local, state and federal law enforcement,” said James Moore, Port Director, Indianapolis. “These seizures/arrests represent the hard work of many of our law enforcement partners, and exemplify our efforts of taking on smugglers menacing our neighborhoods. Our relationships across the board have never been stronger.”
Methamphetamine is dangerous and highly addictive stimulants. Abuse can lead to paranoia, exhaustion, heart conditions, convulsions, stroke, and death. Methamphetamine is classified as a Schedule II stimulant under the Controlled Substances Act.
CBP says the public can report suspicious activity to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection by calling 800 BE ALERT or (800) 232-5378.
CBP conducts operations at ports of entry throughout the United States, and regularly screens arriving international passengers and cargo for narcotics, weapons, and other restricted or prohibited products. CBP strives to serve as the premier law enforcement agency enhancing the Nation’s safety, security, and prosperity through collaboration, innovation, and integration.
