CBP Makes Arrests of Individuals With Warrants for Serious Crimes

EL PASO, Texas – In the month of September, U.S Customs and Border Protection Officers from the El Paso Field Office arrested a large number of wanted persons while performing their primary homeland security inspections. A total of 55 wanted people were taken into custody. Of those, a total of nine people were sought on what can be categorized as serious crimes.

“The work CBP Officers do is vital to protecting our communities,” said CBP El Paso Director of Field Operations Hector A. Mancha. “Some of the individuals arrested were wanted for heinous crimes, it is our duty to ensure that they are turned over to the appropriate authorities to face charges.”

On September 10, shortly before 4:00 p.m., a 59-year-old United States citizen male arrived from Mexico and was selected for inspection. During processing, CBP Officers received confirmation that the man had an active warrant issued by the El Paso Sheriff’s Office, for Sexual Assault on a Child. In addition, the man had criminal history for Aggravated Assault, Criminal Mischief, DUI and Assault on a Police Officer.

On September 14, shortly after 12:00 p.m., a 30-year-old United States citizen male arrived as a pedestrian. As the man presented himself to CBP Officers, it was confirmed that the male had been on the run since 2014 and had an active warrant issued by the Crown Point Sheriff’s Office for Sexual Offense against Child- Fondling.

On September 19, just before 4:00 p.m., a 26-year-old Mexican male arrived as a pedestrian. During processing, CBP Officers received confirmation that the man was wanted for two active warrants out of Denver, Colorado. The man had warrants for Homicide and a Probation Violation for a Dangerous Drug both issued by the Denver, Colorado Sheriffs' Office.

Six additional subjects were arrested for outstanding warrants for serious crimes to include, Neglect of a Child, Sexual Assault on a Child, Child Adult Abuse, DUI, Burglary and Kidnapping.

All subjects were arrested by CBP Officers and turned over to appropriate authorities to face charges.
