Hidalgo, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Hidalgo/Reynosa International Bridge apprehended a man wanted by the state of Texas on a murder charge.
On March 13, CBP officers working the northbound pedestrian lanes at the Hidalgo/Reynosa International Bridge came in contact with a male traveler. At primary, the man identified himself as Francisco Hernandez Zamora, a 21-year-old Mexican citizen from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Hernandez Zamora told CBP officers that he was a wanted person and that he wished to voluntarily surrender to law enforcement authorities.
In secondary, CBP officers established that Hernandez Zamora was the subject of a criminal arrest warrant issued by the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office on a state of Texas murder charge. After his arrest, Hernandez Zamora was transferred to the custody of the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office, Edinburg, Texas where he remains incarcerated.
Hector A. Mancha, CBP Port Director, Hidalgo, Pharr and Anzalduas said, "Through the screening process and via our CBP databases, our officers quickly identified this man as a wanted person." Mancha further said, "Our frontline officers continue to do great enforcement work."
