Warroad, Minn. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Warroad port of entry arrested a Sundown, Manitoba man that arrived from Canada at the port on Friday.

Dale Dooley, 38, a Canadian citizen, arrived at the port around 2 a.m. driving a red Pontiac Grand Prix. Routine queries conducted in the Canadian Police Information Center by CBP officers revealed that Dooley had two warrants for his arrest for break, enter and theft. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police were contacted and verified that warrants were still active. Dooley was refused entry into the United States and escorted back to Canada Border Services where he was turned over to the RCMP for extradition back to Winnipeg, Manitoba.

"The vigilance of our CBP officers here results in safer local communities throughout the United States," said Mary Delaquis, Pembina area port director. "The apprehension of individuals with outstanding warrants attempting to enter the U.S. at our ports of entry is a critical element of our border security efforts."

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
