CBP Officers in Ogdensburg Arrest Man Wanted on Murder Charges

Release Date
Mon, 11/29/2010

Ogdensburg, N.Y. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection Field Operations announced the arrest of a United States citizen wanted on murder charges by Texas authorities.

On Friday, CBP officers received notification from Canada Border Services Agency that 39-year-old Lox Gorme, a United States citizens from Cypress Meadow, Texas, was being deported from Canada. Canadian authorities advised CBP that Gorme was arrested on Aug. 4 at the Ottawa International Airport as he waited to board a plane to Singapore. Information received from Canadian authorities indicate that Gorme entered Canada as a bus passenger on July 30 via the Windsor, Ontario border crossing. At that time, no arrest warrant existed but, shortly thereafter, U.S. authorities in Texas issued an arrest warrant for Gorme, charging him with the murder of his former brother-in-law on July 28. Once a U.S. warrant was activated, Canadian Border Services officials and Ottawa police located Gorme. He was being held pending Canadian deportation proceedings, and was returned to the United States today via the Ogdensburg, N.Y. Port of Entry.

Upon his removal, CBP officers performed additional record checks and verified that Gorme was in fact the subject of an active nationwide felony warrant issued on Aug. 4, by the Harris County, Texas, Sheriff's Office. It appears that Gorme fled the United States in an attempt to avoid prosecution.

CBP officers verified the validity of the warrants and confirmed the extradition. Gorme was arrested by CBP and turned over to the custody of the Ogdensburg, N.Y. Police Department pending extradition to Texas.
