CBP Officers at the Progreso International Bridge Seize Methamphetamine during Father's Day Weekend

Progreso, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers working at the Progreso International Bridge seized 19.4 pounds of methamphetamine during the Father's Day weekend. The estimated street value of the drug is $291,668.

On June 20, CBP officers working at the Progreso International Bridge came in contact with a northbound 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe and its driver, a 43-year-old Mexican citizen from Edinburg, Texas. After the initial primary inspection, the driver and vehicle were referred to secondary for further inspection. In secondary, officers seized three methamphetamine packages that were found hidden in suitcases in the vehicle. Officers seized the methamphetamine and the vehicle.

The male traveler was transferred to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for further investigation.

Nancy Becker, CBP Port Director Progreso said, "I commend our frontline officers for their roles and efforts in seizing this drug load." Becker further said, "Our officers continue working hard to prevent this type of contraband from entering our country and communities."
