CBP Officers Seize $57K Worth of Methamphetamine at Port of San Luis

TUCSON, Ariz. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, officers arrested 2 Phoenix residents for an alleged attempt to smuggle almost 64 pounds of methamphetamine through the Port of San Luis Tuesday.

Officers referred a 22-year-old Phoenix man and his 23-year-old male passenger for additional inspection of a KIA sedan, as they attempted to enter the U.S. through the port on Tuesday evening. A CBP narcotics detection canine alerted to a scent it was trained to detect coming from the vehicle’s gas tank. Officers removed nearly 70 packages of meth from the location. The meth weighed nearly 64 pounds, worth more than an estimated value of $57,000.

Officers seized the drugs and vehicle, while the subjects were arrested and then turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
