Brownsville, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge in Texas Monday seized approximately $65,500 worth of marijuana discovered in a vehicle attempting entry into the United States.
CBP officers referred to secondary inspection a 1997 sedan driven by a 26-year-old woman from Mexico. At secondary, officers discovered 62 packages hidden within the car containing 65.90 pounds of marijuana.
The marijuana had an estimated street value of $65,500. CBP officers referred the case to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation.
"The interception of these dangerous drugs by our CBP officers is a direct result of the ongoing training our officers receive; our officers can take pride in the work they do in protection of our country," said Michael Freeman, CBP Port Director Brownsville Port of Entry.
