CBP U.S. Border Patrol Agents Seize 98 Pounds of Marijuana

Yuma, Ariz. - U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Yuma sector seized approximately 98 pounds of marijuana and arrested two suspected smugglers on Sunday.

Border Patrol agents assigned to the Wellton station observed several individuals on foot south of mile marker 91 on Interstate 8. Agents followed the individual's footprints and encountered three large makeshift backpacks.

Agents continued to track the footprints in the surrounding area and found two Mexican nationals attempting to avoid apprehension. The three large bundles of marijuana had a combined weight of 98 pounds.

The marijuana, with an estimated street value of $78,400, and the two subjects were transported to the Wellton Border Patrol station for further processing.
