Winterhaven, Calif. - U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Interstate 8 checkpoint seized a large quantity of liquid methamphetamine Monday with an estimated street value of more than $500,000.
Agents from the Calexico station were working the I-8 westbound checkpoint when they encountered a suspicious blue sport utility vehicle. The vehicle was referred to a secondary inspection area were the Border Patrol agents found a suspicious oily substance in the window washer fluid reservoir, located within the engine compartment. The substance was later determined to be liquid methamphetamine with a value of $505,600.
The Drug Enforcement Administration took custody of the driver, vehicle and narcotics.
