Convicted Sex Offender Arrested on U.S. and Mexico Border

Calexico, Calif. - U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico station arrested a convicted sex offender yesterday morning.

At approximately 1 a.m., agents working approximately a mile west of Calexico, Calif., witnessed an individual illegally cross the U.S./Mexico International border. The subject was encountered and arrested for being illegally present in the U.S. He was transported to the Calexico station for processing.

At the station, record checks revealed that the illegal alien had a prior conviction for lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14. The illegal alien had also been previously removed from the United States.

The subject is being held at the Imperial County Jail pending prosecution proceedings.

CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
