Brownsville, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Brownsville Port of Entry came in contact with a man wanted on outstanding warrants as a suspect in a homicide in Brownsville and for failure to appear in court in a Corpus Christi drug case.
On August 17, 2010 CBP officers working the primary pedestrian lane at the Gateway International Bridge encountered a man identified as Raul Eleno Elizondo, 37, a U.S. citizen and resident of Brownsville, Texas. Checks of a CBP database by a primary CBP officer resulted in Elizondo being escorted to secondary for verification of outstanding arrest warrants as a suspect in a homicide in Brownsville, Texas and for failure to appear in court in a possession of marijuana case in Corpus Christi, Texas. At secondary, CBP officers verified the outstanding warrants on Elizondo. CBP officers arrested Raul Eleno Elizondo and subsequently turned him over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service. Raul Eleno Elizondo remains incarcerated pending court appearances.
"This wanted fugitive will face pending charges in Brownsville and Corpus Christi, Texas. This is another outstanding arrest as our officers continue to protect our nation's borders," said Michael Freeman, CBP Port Director, Brownsville Port of Entry.
