Ecstasy Interdiction By CBP at Pembina, North Dakota

Pembina, N.D. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Pembina port of entry arrested a 56-year-old Delson, Quebec, man on Nov. 23, for possession of ecstasy tablets.

Gilles Lecuyer, a Canadian citizen, was entering the United States driving a commercial tractor-trailer combination and was referred for an enforcement examination where the ecstasy tablets were discovered during a pocket examination. The North Dakota Highway Patrol was contacted and responded to the port where the subject and the drugs were turned over for further prosecution.

Lecuyer was a member of the Free and Secure Trade (FAST) Trusted Traveler Program as provided by CBP. FAST driver cards are WHTI-compliant documents for entry into the United States by land or sea and also afford expedited release to approved commercial truck drivers making fully-qualified FAST trips between the U.S and Canada or to the U.S. from Mexico. Upon discovery of the ecstasy tablets, Mr. Lecuyer's FAST card was seized and he was revoked from the FAST program.

"As there is a higher level of trust with participants in the CBP Trusted Traveler Programs such as FAST, CBP makes every effort to prosecute violators to the fullest extent of the law for those who violate that trust," said Pembina Area Port Director Mary Delaquis.
