CALEXICO, CALIF.—Today, U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector disrupted a human smuggling attempt resulting in the arrest of 10 illegal aliens.

The incident occurred at approximately 5 a.m., when camera operators spotted a vehicle driving north across the United States/Mexico Boundary.  The vehicle, a 1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo drove around the vehicle barricades, north on Mount Signal Road, made it to Highway 98 and continued eastbound towards Calexico.

Responding agents deployed a tire deflation device and successfully stopped the vehicle.  Shortly after, agents secured the vehicle and arrested a total of 10 illegal aliens. There were seven males and three females, all Mexican Nationals. The Cherokee was seized.

The El Centro Sector’s Community Awareness Campaign is a simple and effective program to raise public awareness on the indicators of crime and other threats.  We encourage public and private sector employees to remain vigilant and play a key role in keeping our country safe.   Please report any suspicious activity to the Border Community Threat Hotline at 1-800-901-2003.
