HIGHGATE SPRINGS, Vt. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Port of Highgate Springs, Vt., reminds the traveling public to sign up for the NEXUS trusted-traveler program to expedite entry into the United States and Canada.
The NEXUS lane at the Highgate Springs Port of Entry is open to members 7 days a week, mornings from 6:30am to 8:30am, and 3pm to 6pm on Fridays.
“Travelers using the NEXUS lane are able to reduce their cross-border wait time, and enter the U.S. with little or no delay,” said CBP St. Albans Area Port Director Casey Durst. “We are always looking for ways to expedite traffic flow, ensuring travelers encounter the shortest average wait time possible.”
What is NEXUS?
The NEXUS program allows pre-screened travelers expedited processing when entering the U.S. and Canada. Program members use dedicated processing lanes at designated northern border ports of entry, NEXUS kiosks when entering Canada by air, and Global Entry kiosks when entering the U.S. via Canadian preclearance airports. NEXUS members also receive expedited processing at marine reporting locations.
How Does the NEXUS Program Work at the Highgate Springs Port of Entry?
Program participants proceed to the dedicated NEXUS only lane and present their NEXUS photo-identification cards. All occupants of the vehicle must be enrolled in NEXUS to utilize the dedicated lane.
What Additional Benefits are included with NEXUS?
Individuals approved to participate in NEXUS receive photo identification cards that allow them to use NEXUS kiosks at airports when entering Canada, and at Global Entry kiosks when entering the U.S. (both in the U.S. and at preclearance locations). In the marine environment, NEXUS members may report their arrival into the U.S. or Canada by calling a marine telephone reporting center: CBP Reporting Information in Vermont.
NEXUS members who are U.S. citizens, U.S. Lawful Permanent Residents, or Canadian citizens will also receive the benefits of TSAPre✓™ and access to Trusted Traveler screening lines at participating Canadian airports.
