Felix Chavez Selected as Chief Patrol Agent of the Laredo Sector

LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol Chief Carla L. Provost announced recently the selection of Felix Chavez as Chief Patrol Agent, Laredo Sector. Chief Chavez entered on duty with the U.S. Border Patrol in July 1985 as a member of Academy Class 184.

Chief Chavez's first duty assignment was at the Sierra Blanca Station in Big Bend Sector (formerly in El Paso Sector). In 1990, he successfully completed the Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC) Selection and Training Course VI, and in November 1990, he was promoted to Senior Patrol Agent at the Ramey Station in Ramey Sector.

In December 1993, Chief Chavez transferred to the Tucson Station in Tucson Sector, where he was promoted to Supervisory Border Patrol Agent and also served as Field Operations Supervisor. Chief Chavez was promoted in July 2002 to Patrol Agent in Charge of the Alamogordo Station in El Paso Sector and, again in August 2007, to Assistant Chief Patrol Agent. In May 2011, he went to Headquarters as Deputy Chief of the Operations Division. From October 2013 to October 2017, he served as Deputy Chief Patrol Agent of Tucson Sector. Most recently, he served as Chief Patrol Agent of Del Rio Sector.

Chief Chavez earned a bachelor's degree in Organizational Management from Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa. He has completed the Executive Institute at the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business, the CBP Command Leadership Academy, and the National Defense University CAPSTONE program.

The Laredo Sector covers 86,673 square miles in 101 counties from the U.S.-Mexico borders to the Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas borders.
