The Port of Goat Haunt, Montana, is
closing for the season earlier than normal
due to wildfires in the area.

GOAT HAUNT, Mont. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations announces the early closing of the seasonal Port of Goat Haunt due to the threat from wildfires burning to the west of the port. The port is now closed for the season.

Goat Haunt is a remote port located at the south end of Waterton Lake, which can only be accessed by ferry boat from Waterton, Alberta, Canada, or by trail from the North Fork area of Glacier National Park in Montana.

The town of Waterton is under a voluntary evacuation order due to wildfires threatening from the west and the ferry operator advised CBP they have ceased operations for the season.

The port will re-open in 2018, when the ferry begins its summer service.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
