Laredo Sector Border Patrol halts human smuggling attempt

LAREDO, Texas – Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Laredo South Station halts a human smuggling attempt in El Cenizo, Texas, finds vehicle engulfed in flames.

On March 20, Border Patrol agents while working their assigned duties, observed a brown van driving erratically near south Laredo. Agents attempted a vehicle stop, but the driver failed to yield. As the vehicle slowed down, several individuals fled from the vehicle into the brush. After a brief search, agents apprehended a total of five individuals.

Moments later, Border Patrol agents located the vehicle, but it was engulfed in flames. Using fire extinguishers, agents controlled the fire from spreading until El Cenizo Fire Department arrived and took over the scene.

All arrested subjects were determined to be illegally present in the United States. After record checks were conducted, the individuals were found to be from the country of Mexico. All subjects were processed accordingly.
