Laredo Sector Border Patrol Seizes $5.6 Million in Meth

LAREDO, Texas –On July 23, 2017, agents at the Border Patrol Checkpoint on Interstate Highway 35 encountered a white 2003 Dodge Durango at the primary lane.  The driver was questioned regarding his immigration status and was referred for further inspection after a Border Patrol canine alerted to the presence of concealed humans and/or narcotics.  A further search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of three metal cylinders filled with crystal methamphetamine.  The methamphetamine weighed 177. 08 pounds and was estimated to have a value of $5,666,560.00.  The driver, a United States Citizen was arrested.
