TUCSON, Ariz. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Arizona’s Port of Lukeville arrested a Mesa, Arizona woman after seizing more than 60 pounds worth of methamphetamine over the weekend.
Officers referred a 31-year-old woman for a secondary inspection of her Nissan Coupe as she applied to re-enter the United States from Mexico Sunday afternoon. A CBP canine alerted to an odor it is trained to detect, leading officers to the discovery of over 64 pounds of methamphetamine within the area used to otherwise house the convertible top, with an estimated value of nearly $193,000.
Officers arrested the subject and turned her over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, while the drugs and the vehicle were seized.
