Morgan City, La. - On Oct. 7, Customs and Border Protection officers from the Port of Morgan City apprehended James Ingram of Tylertown, Miss., a 33-year-old male fugitive with outstanding felony warrants issued from the Lincoln County, Miss., Sheriff's office.

The fugitive was wanted by local law enforcement for issuing worthless checks totaling $8,296. This was his final helicopter ride in bound from the Gulf of Mexico.

CBP officers identified the man during pre-arrival queries of law enforcement databases. Upon confirming the outstanding arrest warrant and extradition mandate with Lincoln County officials, CBP officers coordinated efforts with the CBP Houma marine unit and the Houma Police Department to apprehend the suspect upon arrival. The suspect was subsequently arrested and remanded to the custody of the Houma Police Department for extradition to the state of Mississippi.

Since the beginning of the month, CBP helped local law enforcement apprehend a few wanted criminals. On Oct. 4, officers from the Port of Morgan City apprehended Ebony Woods of Lafayette, La., a 26-year-old female fugitive with an outstanding felony warrant issued in Acadia Parish, La. for possession of stolen goods.

She was a passenger arriving on a helicopter inbound to Houma, La. from the Gulf of Mexico. The suspect was subsequently arrested and remanded to the custody of the Houma Police Department for extradition to the state of Mississippi.

On Oct. 6, officers from the Port of Morgan City apprehended Larry Akins of Alexandria, La., a 55-year-old malefugitive with an outstanding felony warrant on parole violation for drug related offenses from the Texas Pardon and Parole Board. This subject was identified during CBP inspection processes of a vessel outbound to the Gulf of Mexico. He was subsequently arrested and remanded to the custody of the Morgan City Police Department for extradition to the state of Texas.

"In addition to our primary mission of anti-terrorism, CBP secures the homeland by identifying and apprehending wanted criminals attempting to circumvent our judicial system." said Port Director Michael Hebert in Morgan City. "Theses arrests are a result of the daily vigilance and dedication displayed by our officers."
