Naco CBP Officers Intercept Marijuana Load

TUCSON, Ariz. – Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Naco prevented a Phoenix resident from smuggling 100 pounds of marijuana into the United States Friday.

Officers referred a 44-year-old Lawful Permanent Resident Alien for further inspection of his Ford sedan early Friday morning. When officers searched the vehicle, they discovered 100 packages of marijuana hidden throughout the vehicle. The drugs are estimated to be worth nearly $55,000.  

Officers seized the drugs and vehicle. The subject was arrested and charged for narcotics smuggling. He was then turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
