Oregon Fugitive Captured at the Border by CBP Officers

Blaine, Wash - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers apprehended a Gig Harbor, Washington man on Oct. 19 who was wanted in Columbia County, Oregon for alleged unlawful delivery of a controlled substance to a minor.

Officers arrested Jeffrey Frost, 48, upon his arrival to the United States at the Peace Arch port of entry when a name check revealed that he was the subject of a National Crime Information Center (NCIC) felony warrant.

"The apprehension of individuals with outstanding warrants attempting to enter the US at our ports of entry is a critical element of our border security efforts," said Area Port Director Gregory Alvarez. "Our efforts yesterday is helping to keep the streets of our communities safer and protecting our youth from serious harm."

After verification of the warrant for arrest with Columbia County officials, Frost was immediately taken into custody by CBP officers and turned over to the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office for extradition to Oregon.

NCIC is the abbreviation for National Crime Information Center, which is a centralized automated database designed to share information among law enforcement agencies. These warrants are for a wide range of offense including money laundering, robbery, narcotics distribution, sexual abuse of children, violation of protection orders, fraud, failure to appear, larceny and military desertion.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
