Douglas, Ariz. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped a drug smuggling attempt when they seized nearly 350 pounds of marijuana from a 20 year-old Phoenix man.

On February 4, CBP officers at the Douglas port of entry were screening travelers and vehicles when they came in contact with a 20-year-old man driving a 1999 Dodge pick-up. The man was identified as a U.S citizen and resident of Phoenix.

The CBP officers selected the vehicle for inspection. With the assistance of a k-9 team the vehicle was searched, and it was discovered that the bed of the Dodge pick-up had been completely altered to accommodate the concealment of nearly 350 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value $782,000.

CBP Officers seized the vehicle and marijuana. The man was turned over to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation and prosecution.
