EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector (RGV) Border Patrol agents encountered two large groups of migrants resulting in 239 noncitizens.

On Friday morning, McAllen Border Patrol (MCS) station agents encountered a large group of 132 noncitizens in Hidalgo, Texas.  The group consisted of 94 family members, 35 noncitizen unaccompanied children, and three migrant adults.  They were nationals from the countries of Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Romania, and Ecuador. The migrants were transported to a Border Patrol station for processing.

On Saturday evening, MCS agents encountered a large group of 107 noncitizens near Granjeno, Texas.  The group consisted of 72 family members, 29 noncitizen unaccompanied children, and six migrant adults.  They were nationals from the countries of Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Ecuador. The migrants were transported to a Border Patrol station for processing. RGV agents have encountered 48 large groups of more than 100 people this fiscal year.

All subjects are being processed accordingly.

Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation.  The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
