Three Days, $3.7 Million of Counterfeits Seized by CBP Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky—U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Officers in Louisville, KY intercepted more than 3.7 million worth of various counterfeit goods in just the past three days.Handbag

From September 08, through September 10, CBP Officers intercepted multiple shipments containing counterfeit trademarked designer brands. These shipments included counterfeit watches, purses, handbags, footwear, and clothing. If these items were real, the MSRP for these items totaled over $3.7 million.

“CBP Officers in Louisville are committed to protecting the American consumer, the economy, and the facilitation legitimate business.” Chief Customs and Border Protection Officer Brian Lick states, “The sad reality is that counterfeiting is linked to and funds larger more heinous crimes such as terrorism funding, human trafficking, and child labor.”

CBP has established an educational initiative to raise consumer awareness about the consequences and dangers that are often associated with the purchase of counterfeit and pirated goods.
