McAllen, Texas - U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the McAllen Station arrested a man wanted out of Los Angeles, California for sexual assault of a minor.

Agents patrolling near Hidalgo, Texas, on Thursday encountered the Mexican national after he had crossed the Rio Grande from Mexico with a group of 10 other illegal aliens. The man was transported to the McAllen Border Patrol Station where records checks showed the man has an extensive criminal history with an outstanding warrant for sexual assault of a minor issued by the Los Angeles Police Department.

The man is pending an appearance before a Federal Magistrate for illegal entry into the United States and is also pending extradition to Los Angeles for the outstanding warrant.

To report suspicious activity, call the Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector's toll-free telephone number at 1-800-863-9382.
