Subject has criminal history dating to 1983
PORT CLINTON, Ohio— U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to Detroit Sector arrested a Mexican citizen illegally present in the United States after a prior removal.
On November 14, Border Patrol agents from the Sandusky Bay station responded to a call for assistance from a local law enforcement agency near Toledo. Agents interviewed the subject, Esequiel Delgado-Cabrera, who admitted to being in the United States illegally and not having any documents allowing him to be or remain in the United States.
Fingerprint and record checks at the Border Patrol station revealed a long criminal record for Delgado, with convictions in Florida and Ohio. In addition, he had been ordered removed from the United States by an Immigration Judge in July 1991, and was convicted of 8 USC 1326 Re-entry After Prior Removal in December 2000. He also had his original order of removal reinstated and was removed in December 2002.
He was convicted of Hit and Run in Dade City, FL in 1983, and subsequently sentenced for Felony Smuggling Contraband into Prison in the same year. In 1984, he was convicted of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol in Pasco County, FL. He was convicted of Carrying Concealed Weapon in 1987 in Toledo, OH, and was also convicted in Toledo in 2008 of Carrying Concealed Weapon and Attempted Forgery.
“This arrest is an example of the benefit of our working relationships with other law enforcement agencies in the area,” said Acting Patrol Agent in Charge John Rodrigue. “These partnerships are valuable because we work together to remove criminal aliens from our communities.”
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio is reviewing the case for prosecution of 8 USC 1326 (b), Re-entry After Prior Removal. Delgado-Cabrerra was turned over to the custody of ICE/ERO pending Reinstatement of Prior Order of Removal.
