DEMING, N.M. – U.S. Border Patrol agents made two significant arrests over the weekend.
On November 1, Deming Border Patrol agents arrested an individual attempting to illegally enter the U.S. The Mexican national had a prior aggravated felony conviction and had been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Additionally, the man had been removed on two prior occasions.
In a separate incident, Deming Border Patrol agents encountered a Mexican national in a remote area. The man had a prior aggravated felony conviction and had been removed six times from the U.S.
“Border Security is National Security. Keeping repeat criminal offenders off our streets is among the duties performed by Border Patrol agents,” stated El Paso Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gloria I. Chavez. “There is an immediate threat posed when they reach our local communities.”
It is important to note that an arrest or criminal complaint is merely a charge and should not be considered evidence of guilt. Subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
