U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers Seize $228,000 in Methamphetamine at Brownsville Port of Entry

Brownsville, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Gateway International Bridge seized approximately $228,000 worth of methamphetamine discovered in a vehicle seeking to enter the United States.

On Saturday, July 17, at the Gateway International Bridge, a primary CBP officers' inspection of a tan 1990 Nissan Maxima driven by a 23-year-old Mexican male who resides in Gilsville, Georgia resulted in the driver and vehicle being referred for a secondary examination. At secondary CBP officers discovered seven packages containing a combined total weight of 6.90 kilograms (15.2 pounds) of methamphetamine in luggage found in the Maxima.

The methamphetamine from this seizure has an estimated street value of $228,000. CBP officers seized the narcotics and vehicle and referred the matter to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agents for further investigation.
