U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer David B. Saavedra passed away on September 2, 2021. The circumstances of his passing were reviewed by an executive panel and the CBP Commissioner who agreed that this death occurred in the line of duty. CBPO Saavedra will be remembered for his diligent service to the nation and for his bravery in the face of danger.
Officer Saavedra began his federal career with U.S. Customs and Border Protection on August 22, 2011. At the time of his passing, he served as an acting Supervisory Customs and Border Protection Officer and was assigned to the Anti-Terrorism Contraband Enforcement Team within the Tactical Operations Division at Miami International Airport where he played an integral role in enforcement actions.
Officer Saavedra is survived by his wife, two children, his parents and a sister.
