The US Coast Guard Auxiliary's remote-controlled "Coastie" engages with children at the Coast Guard Marathon. On March 4-5, 2022, the inaugural Coast Guard Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K was held in Elizabeth City, NC. Officially sanctioned by the U.S. Coast Guard, the race was created by the City of Elizabeth City, NC in collaboration with USCG Base Elizabeth City and service members were on-hand to cheer participants, present race medals, and talk with the public about Coast Guard missions and activities.
