Release Date
Fri, 03/05/2010

Del Rio, Texas - A Border Patrol agent assigned to the Del Rio, Texas station seized more than 120 pounds of marijuana Thursday, valued at nearly $97,000.

The agent, working in the Del Rio area, observed five subjects crossing the Rio Grande River near the port of entry Thursday night. When the subjects reached the United States side of the river, they began to unload large bundles from a raft they had just used to cross the river.

As the agent confronted the subjects, they dropped the bundles and fled back to Mexico in the raft. Two bundles, which were found to contain marijuana, were recovered.

The contraband was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
