TEMECULA, Calif.— U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested two men last night who had more than $600K in methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin inside the back of their vehicle.
At approximately 9 p.m., agents observed a suspicious vehicle on Interstate 15 and initiated a vehicle stop near the I-15 checkpoint. The 36-year-old driver and his 41-year-old passenger were both Mexican nationals. After their K-9 alerted to the vehicle, agents searched and located 114 bundles of narcotics stashed inside the rear cargo area.
An inventory of the narcotics included 114.64 pounds of methamphetamine valued at $229,928; 27.67 pounds of cocaine valued at $276,700; and almost 11 pounds of black tar heroin valued at $113,850.
The two men were taken into custody and turned over to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and face narcotic smuggling charges. The vehicle was seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.
As of February 28, 2019, San Diego Sector has intercepted 1,255 pounds of methamphetamine, 506 pounds of cocaine, and 114 pounds of heroin since October 1, 2018.
