Border Patrol Agents Arrest Convicted Sex Offender

BARKSDALE, TexasU.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Rocksprings Station arrested a convicted sex offender, Jan. 31.

“The men and women of Del Rio Sector continue to make significant arrests in the protection of our country,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Austin L. Skero II. “I’m very proud of the work our agents are doing to ensure predators like this are prosecuted and detained.”

Agents arrested Gonzalo Brito-Perez, 48, a citizen of Mexico, shortly after he illegally entered the United States. During processing, records checks revealed that Brito-Perez was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child in 2009, and sentenced to five years imprisonment. Brito-Perez was most recently removed from the United States in 2011.

As a convicted felon, he faces a charge of 8 USC § 1326 – Re-entry After Deportation, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
