Border Patrol Agents Arrest Man Convicted of Manslaughter

DEL RIO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to Del Rio Sector arrested a man convicted of voluntary manslaughter, shortly after he illegally entered the United States, June 3.

Eagle Pass Station agents apprehended a lone migrant near Eagle Pass around 4:30 p.m. He was transported to Soft-sided Processing Facility where record checks revealed that Oscar Jeovany Torres-Cruz, 32, of Honduras, was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in 2008 in North Carolina and sentenced to 86 months confinement. He has been deported twice.

As a convicted felon, he faces a charge of 8 USC § 1326 – re-entry after deportation.

During fiscal year 2022, Oct. 1, 2021, through April 30, 2022, Del Rio Sector agents have encountered more than 1,269 criminal migrants.
