EL CENTRO, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested two illegal aliens and a U.S. citizen over the weekend, previously convicted of a sexual offense, for illegally entering the United States.
The first incident occurred Friday afternoon at approximately 12 p.m., when agents assigned to the El Centro Border Patrol Station observed a man illegally enter the United States. Agents placed the man under arrest and transported him to the El Centro Station for further processing.
Records checks revealed that the man, a 30-year-old illegal alien from Mexico, had a conviction on October 8, 2013, for “Sex with a minor” out of Victorville, California. The man was sentenced to 36 months probation and 280 days in jail.
The second incident occurred Saturday morning approximately 7:30 a.m., when agents assigned to the El Centro Border Patrol Station observed a man illegally enter the United States. Agents placed the man under arrest and transported him to the El Centro Station for further processing.
Records checks revealed that the man, a 34 -year-old illegal alien from Mexico, had a conviction on September 14, 2012, for “Sexual Assault” out of Monmouth County, New Jersey. The man was sentenced to five years confinement for his conviction.
The third incident occurred Saturday afternoon at approximately 5:45 p.m., when agents assigned to the Highway 86 checkpoint encountered a woman with an active federal warrant for “Failure to Appear”. Agents detained and contacted the United States Marshal Service for extradition.
Additionally, records checks revealed that the woman, a 32-year-old United States citizen, had a conviction on April 24, 2017, for “Annoy/Molest children” out of San Bernardino, California. The woman was sentenced to 36 months probation and 30 days jail.
The Illegal aliens were processed criminally for 8 USC 1326, Reentry of Removed Aliens and will be held in federal custody pending their hearings.
El Centro Sector turned over the U.S. citizen to the United States Marshall Service.
In fiscal year 2020, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents have arrested and/or removed 49 individuals either convicted or wanted on sexual offense charges after they entered the United States illegally.
