LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Laredo Sector assisted local First Responders in two separate accidents that occurred on September 18, in Hebbronville and Cotulla, Texas.

The first accident occurred at approximately 10 a.m., on Texas Highway 359 west of Hebbronville, Texas.  Border Patrol agents assigned to the Hebbronville Border Patrol Station responded to a vehicle rollover accident at the request for assistance from the Jim Hogg County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety.  Border Patrol agents assisted with traffic control as Border Patrol Emergency Technicians (EMTs) assisted Emergency Medical Services (EMS) that were attending to an individual injured in the accident.  Furthermore, a Border Patrol EMT aided the EMS on the scene with the transport of an injured individual to a local hospital.

marker of Interstate 35.

The second incident occurred later that afternoon when agents assigned to the Cotulla Station observed two tractor-trailers swerve into the median on Interstate 35 (I-35) near mile marker 62.  One of the vehicles caught on fire igniting the grass along the I-35 median.  Agents conducted traffic control for both north and southbound lanes of I-35.  Additionally, agents also assisted the local first responders in extinguishing the fire.  Due to the timely and swift response by U.S. Border Patrol agents, both events did not result in any loss of life.
