Border Patrol Agents Rescue Lost Man

Release Date
Mon, 03/22/2021

PLASTER CITY, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents from El Centro Sector successfully rescued an illegal alien Friday afternoon.

The rescue was initiated at approximately 5:30 p.m., when El Centro Sector Radio Communications Dispatch received a call from California Highway Patrol communications of a distress call from an illegal alien who had made an illegal entry into the United States, stating he was lost. Border Patrol agents began a rescue operation using the coordinates obtained from the origin of the cell phone call.

At approximately 8:00 p.m., agents located the individual nearly nine miles north of Plaster City, Calif.  Agents assessed the man who was in fair condition and provided him with water. The agents determined that the man, a 20-year-old illegal alien from Mexico, had placed the distress call for help.  The individual stated he required no medical attention and was then transported to the immigration checkpoint where he was processed and expelled back to Mexico.

In fiscal year 2021, which began Oct. 1, 2020 El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents have rescued 84 individuals within our area or responsibility.
