DEL RIO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Carrizo Springs Station seized a stolen vehicle with fictitious plates and arrested eight illegal aliens.
“Border Patrol Agents continue to locate and interdict illegal aliens who are attempting to evade arrest,” said Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Randy Davis. “Even with Del Rio Sector’s resources being diverted to the humanitarian crisis, we will not lose focus on Border Security.”

On May 22, agents attempted to conduct a vehicle stop on a stolen vehicle with fictitious license plates near Asherton. The driver drove through a local ranch fence and all subjects ran from the vehicle and into the brush in an attempt to evade arrest. Eight illegal aliens were arrested, six single adult males and two 17-year-old males, all from Mexico. They will be processed per U.S. Customs and Border Protection guidelines.
Two of the men have been previously removed from the United States. Their prior orders of removal will be reinstated, and they each face a charge of 8 USC § 1326 – reentry after deportation, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
The vehicle, which was previously reported stolen out of San Antonio was turned over to the Dimmit County Sheriff’s Office.
All individuals apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks utilizing multiple databases including the use of biometrics to ensure those with criminal history are positively identified regardless of their immigration status.
